me: {Rachel} i’m from ’87, i love the color yellow, i love lilacs, i love yoga, and i love dogs {labs especially}. Oh…and i love food and i love to run. i have a real passion for nourishing my body — i’m all about the whole-food movement & i love my veggies.  i’m also a half-marathon junkie, with about 8 halfies under my belt.  i’m no pro {at all}, but i love it – the training, the race, and the feeling of accomplishing 13.1 miles, amazing. it’s the one sport i have kept with me for the last 15+ years… my main squeeze {other than my wonderful husband, matt}

Rachel running 2011

us: {Matt & I} we are two crazy kids who got married july 2014 {we’ve been dating since Feb 2007}.  we  l o v e  to cook/bake/experiment with different recipes, and share with friends & family.  in our spare time (when we’re not in the kitchen!) we are riding our bikes around our mile-high city, exploring the awesome restaurants in our area, or relaxing on the couch with a bowl of cheddar bunnies, home-brews, & a good show.

food: we love food and we love to cook/bake food. of course, there are times when our experiments don’t work out, but not to worry, food is never wasted in our house — matt will eat anything :)

why: how come there are no mushrooms in the kitchen you ask? because that is the one item of food that both matt & i can live without…and prefer to live without. to put it nicely, mushrooms are gross.  so that’s why in our kitchen we say:

No  Mushrooms Allowed!

contact: we’d love to hear from you. {yes, you!}  nomushroomshere@gmail.com

humor: jokes are my favorite. please share if you have any good ones :)   here are my two go-tos:

  • why did the mushroom go to the party? … because he was a fun guy {fungi, get it?}
  • why did the fun guy leave the party? …because there wasn’t mush-room  {Ha!!}

    I am also not a fan of mushrooms! I just saw you started following my blog AND you’re from Denver! My boyfriend and I are moving to the Denver area in less than 2 weeks — very excited! Thanks for following! I may be asking for tips on how to bake at high altitude ;)

    Congratulations on your move to the Mile High City – it’s amazing here, you will love it! I’d always love to share some tips on baking at altitude — though I am still learning myself, so I can’t promise too much ;) i was so glad i stumbled upon your blog, i am in the process of learning if i have a gluten intolerance or not… trial by error. Good luck with your move!!

      Thanks! I’ve been just a few times but my boyfriend and I loooovvve it. We’re both really active (though by CO standards, we’re probably so far behind) and love riding bikes, running, hiking … and it’s so much more accessible there!

      Good luck with finding out about your gluten intolerance! I hope you get some answers.
